One of the biggest concerns for any homeowner when constructing a new build is ensuring that their project stays on track and on budget. At Capstone Custom Homes, this is something we take very seriously. By staying organized and being upfront in our contracts, we want to ensure that your project turns out as expected.

Understand Your Contract

The first step is understanding your contract. Our contracts outline the entire home building process: who will do what, when it will happen, and how much it will cost. Our sales consultants are happy to explain all contract details to you so you know exactly what you’re signing up for.

Allowances and Change Orders

Some important terms to understand in any construction contract are allowances and change orders. Allowances are an estimated cost for materials like cabinets, lighting, and appliances, when exact selections and costs are not yet known. This provides a rough estimate for these costs.

Change orders allow you to change your mind and upgrade a finish or selection for these and other areas. Your sales consultant can help you understand whether a design decision falls under an allowance or would result in additional charges.

The Best Result

Budgets vary, and supply chain challenges can also cause changes in pricing. We believe it is our job to create the best possible value for you. We do our best to stay on budget — for example, by not rushing a build in a way that would result in extra expenses for you. When necessary, we work with you to decide where adjustments should occur to help keep everything on track.

Have additional questions or concerns about how these considerations can affect the budget for your project? Our sales consultants are happy to walk you through the process so you can move forward with confidence. Contact us today to learn more.
